Today's Elevenses Throws Eleven Quick Questions At Dokken's Jon Levin!
Following such guitar greats as George Lynch, Reb Beach and John Norum, Jon Levin is the latest guitar maestro to join Dokken. Amazingly, Jon was Dokken’s attorney before they offered him the chance to play guitar, which he hadn’t done seriously since his days with Warlock.
So what’s your drink of choice at 11am in the morning?
Strong Coffee, nothing beats it for pulling you out of the mess you created for yourself the night before.
Which song/album really made you want to play guitar?
Kiss Alive, how can you beat a guitar that smokes?
Who’s the world’s greatest guitarist?
Jimi Hendrix. For those of you not familiar, go and listen carefully.
Who’s the world’s most underrated guitarist?
Probably me (LOL). I would say Marty Friedman. He’s amazing.
So what are you up to at the moment?
Just finished the new Dokken LP, “Lightening Strikes Again”.
What was the last gig you went to (as a member of the audience)?
Who would be in your dream line-up?
Van Halen at the Staples Arena.
Other than the guys I play with now who rule, it would be:
Jason Bonham on drums
Jeff Pilson on bass
and Steven Tyler on Vocals.
How many guitars do your own and which one is ‘your precious’?
I have about 20. They are all precious to me.
What’s the last great album that you bought (or were given)?
The last Green Day record. Unbelievable.
Do you suffer from stage fright?
All the time. Life wouldn’t be the same without it! I draw all of my energy from that state of mind.
