Rock School Teaching Diplomas

Rockschool has always been committed to formal and high standards in mainstream music education. It is intended that these diplomas (developed in association with the Musicians’ Union) will swell the ranks of qualified teachers of popular music, and provide a quality benchmark amongst those educators.

‘…what [we have] been crying out for is a dramatic increase in the number of high quality teachers in popular music, and a formal qualification by which to measure them. Rockschool may well have the answer. These Diplomas have been eagerly anticipated, and are very much welcomed…’ (Paul McManus, Chief Executive, MIA)

There are two types of Diploma (the DipRSL at Level 4, and the LRSL at Level 6). The DipRSL is geared towards music professionals who are at the earliest stages of building a teaching practice. The LRSL is aimed principally at those teachers who are already established, but who would like a formal recognition of their profession.

‘This new course will enable professional musicians to continue to work fully whilst obtaining a valuable qualification, which will lead to greater rewards both financially and in the delivery of tuition.’ (Horace Trubridge, Assistant General Secretary, Musicians’ Union)
