Gustavo Guerra Wins Guitar Idol 2008!

So after winning the public vote and the online panel’s vote, Gustavo Guerra impressed a panel of industry judges enough to win Guitar Idol 2008 by a clear distance. His fully professional performance, showmanship and exquisite technique needed no hiding place on the main stage at The London Guitar Show!

Paul Reed Smith awarded Gustavo a Custom 24 Limited Edition (1 of 12) – a beautiful guitar worth over £2500 ($5000) and a Peavey ‘Satch’ signature amp signed by the great man himself.

The judges decided that Lyle Watt’s exceptional and stylish performance deserved the 2nd place prize to be confirmed. And Just one point behind Lyle was Daniele Gottardo, whose tone most impressed the judges of any competitor.

16 year-old Ben Randal won Rockschool’s £1000 award for the ‘Most Promising Young Guitarist’ and Ernie Ball gave each finalist a goody bag worth over £100.

Due to circumstances completely out of Guitar Idol’s hands, Gustavo was unable to open for Joe Satriani on the Sunday. But with much haggling, we managed to get Gustavo to open for Yngwie Malmsteen in front of a packed house AND a full Marshall backdrop!

Guitar Idol and it's sponsors are very proud of all the contestants who entered this year’s competition and especially our champion – GUSTAVO GUERRA!!!!
