A Look Ahead to 2008

This has the makings of being a pivotal year: AOG will see it's profile massively raised over the next few months through a variety of different means, and we will continually refine and develop the site to ensure that we are leaders in this new industry. We have learnt loads in the past 15 months, and hope to become a genuine force to be reckoned with in the guitar industry overethe ecoming year. Time will tell!

Personally speaking I intened upon taking serious measures to redefine my whole guitar approach: my chops are pretty much always there - let sface it I play a good 40 hours a week through teaching and rehearsing/gigs so they should be! - but I am not happy with my phrasing and general approach: I need to make a commitment to go and get some guitar lessons again! With all the world class players I know surely it can't be that difficult: so I intend upon taking a series of lessons from a variety of players and schools to see how I can acheive this. Watch for a series on my musical travels throughout 2008.

I am beginning song writing sessions with Medicine Hat in February, and hope to again play some big stages hopefully in Canada in late summer 2008; we intend upon crafting a bona fide hard rock classic and to then go and work it hard. Again, I will keep a diary online for those interested in the trials and tribulations of relaunching a classic rock style band of 35+ geezers in 2008!

Red Soxx are in fine fettle and we hope to augment our reputation with more gigs throughout the home counties and the Midlands, and to write and record an album of original material that will reflect the varied musical influences that we all bring to the table. I shall also chart this, as this will be a very different project musically to Medicine Hat, although several of the musicians involved shall be the same.

I hope to get around to recording - or at least writing! - a solo album as well, although with all the other work obligationms this may be wishfull thinking! trr

Don Airey's album is due to be released in February so I hope my joint composition makes the final running order - even if it does have my old mate Rob Harris supplying the guitar work instead of me!

Have a good one!
