Owen Edwards
Owen has worked as a session guitarist for numerous studio and live projects, co wrote and performed the Vaughan Daniels album in 1994 with Rory Sullivan and producer Sean Lynch (Black Sabbath, Judas Priest) and co-wrote the score for independent Brit Horror flick ‘The 13th Sign’ in 1999/2000.
As a teacher Owen has worked in over a dozen schools, run several summer rockschool courses, and privately taught thousands of students. Owen teaches from a purpose built teaching studio on the Northants/Beds/Cambs border and specialises in the application of technical rock and blues playing in real world musical situations, and counts many pro and semi-pro guitarist as students - including two of this years entries for Guitar Idol.

Currently treading the boards with Red Soxx (www.redsoxx.com) - a highly acclaimed live act in the East Anglian/Midlands area of the UK who are regulars on the festival circuit - Owen has also recently joined international recording act Medicine Hat (www.medicinehat.co.uk / www.myspace.com/medicinehatuk ) with whom he is currently hard at work rehearsing and writing a new album for release in 2009, which will coincide with a series of European and stateside tours.
Owen has also jammed with many world renowned musicians including Martin Gore (Depeche Mode) Dave Murray (Iron Maiden) and Gary Husband (Allan Holdsworth, Gary Moore, Level 42) and appeared on the same bill with acts including Thunder, Bad Company, Wishbone Ash, The Australian Pink Floyd, and countless others.
Owen plays on a couple of tracks on the upcoming John Denner album (which also features Billy Sheehan, Guthrie Govan, Phil Hilborne, Les Paul, Jamie Humphries, Jonny Hiland and others – see www.johndennerrocks.com/music and listen to ‘Is This Thing On?’ for an example of his playing), and has a co written instrumental ‘M32-Andromeda’ on the recent Don Airey (Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Gary Moore, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Brian May, ELO, Andrew Lloyd Webber) album ‘Light In The Sky’ (www.donairey.com).
Owen was the prime mover behind several Alloutguitarfest concerts which have featured some of the world’s finest guitarist including Guthrie Govan, Rob Harris (Jamiroquai) Bernie Marsden (ex Whitesnake), Phil Hilborne, Chris George, Simon Lees, Edward Box, Nick Andrews, Chris Francis and ‘The Future of Shred’ Andy James.
Owen has been, and is, hard at work behind the scenes staging Guitar Idol, liasing with partners LickLibrary.com and MB media as well as the sponsors, devising and implementing the marketing and PR, and is currently working on the logistics of staging the Live show.
